For Jason and Lindsay Boring, choosing an education for their children has never been just about academics.
It has always been about faith, family, and forming the hearts of their children.
Both Indiana natives, Jason and Lindsay built their life together on shared convictions from the very beginning. Shortly after meeting at church, they quickly recognized they were aligned in their vision for the future: a strong Christian home, Lindsay investing deeply in raising their children, and a commitment to being intentional about education.
“We wanted to keep our kids close,” Jason explained. “We wanted to be the primary influence in their lives.”
For years, that vision led them down the path of home schooling. Lindsay, a registered nurse by training, poured herself into educating their growing family, eventually teaching six children at home. They worked hard to create consistency, choosing curriculum carefully and striving to give their children both structure and flexibility.
But as their family grew—and as life grew more complex—they began to sense new challenges.
With multiple children at different stages, including young twins at home, the demands of homeschooling became increasingly difficult to manage. At the same time, they began to notice that one of their daughters needed more structure to truly thrive academically.
“We realized the home school environment just wasn’t accomplishing what we wanted anymore,” Jason shared. “Not for lack of effort—but because of the season we were in.”
Still, their convictions remained firm. They were not willing to compromise on faith or place their children in an environment that didn’t align with their values.
That’s when their search led them—almost unexpectedly—to Heartland Christian School.
Jason had driven past the school many times without giving it much thought. “It was just a school in the middle of a cornfield,” he joked. But when they finally took a closer look, something stood out immediately: Heartland’s commitment to partnering with parents.
“That idea—that the school exists to help parents educate their children—sounds good on paper,” Jason said. “But what mattered to us was whether it was real.”
They quickly discovered that it was.

“We felt like we had someone on our side,” Lindsay said. “Someone we could trust.”

For the Borings, that made all the difference.
Their daughter Lily was the first to enroll—and the growth they saw confirmed they had made the right decision. After facing academic challenges, she began to flourish in Heartland’s structured yet supportive environment.
“She has excelled here,” Jason said. “She enjoys her teachers, she’s growing academically, and she comes home excited about what she’s learning.”
Just as importantly, the Borings saw that Heartland’s commitment to faith was both strong and appropriately centered in the home. In one meaningful moment, Lily brought home an assignment from the book of Revelation that encouraged her to discuss differing interpretations with her parents and church leaders.
“That told me everything,” Jason said. “It showed that the school respects our role as parents and spiritual leaders.”
Today, the Borings have enrolled four of their children at Heartland, with plans to remain actively involved in their education. They continue to value time together as a family and are exploring a blended approach that allows them to stay engaged at home while benefiting from the school’s structure and opportunities.
And those opportunities matter.
From dual-credit courses and career connections to extracurricular activities and a broader community, Heartland has opened doors that would have been difficult to access through homeschooling alone—all without compromising the family’s core values.
Looking back, the Borings see God’s hand clearly at work in their journey.
“The timing was right. The location was right,” Jason said. “The way was paved.”
